What does Codon cost?
Codon's pricing policy is based on our philosophy and commitment to ensure that all students have access to our platform at an affordable cost. Introducing the Life Sciences by Scott Freeman (University of Washington) et al, includes our unique textbook replacement with Readiness Readings and costs $48 per semester ($40 per quarter). Our other course offerings, which do not include Readiness Readings, are $40 per semester ($35 per quarter).
Understanding the varying financial situations of students, we provide a 21-day free trial for all courses, with the option to extend this period if necessary. We sell codes to local bookstores for students who must purchase course materials from the bookstore. We also provide instructors with five codes for students who, despite not qualifying for financial aid, cannot afford the system due to financial hardship.
Students have access to their Codon course(s) for four years. Students retaking a course for any reason, do not have to purchase again. All sales are final after the free trial period. We integrate with all of the major learning management systems.
HOW ARE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A CODON COURSE?
There are two ways that students are enrolled in a Codon course:
Direct Enrollment: The instructor provides Codon with a student list (first name, last name, email address). Students go to app.codonlearning.com to set their password and log in.
Learning Management System (LMS) Integration: The instructor works with their Faculty Success Manager to integrate Codon into their LMS (such as Canvas, BlackBoard, D2L). Students are enrolled when they launch Codon Learning from their LMS.
Note: All students are allowed a temporary free access period before they are required to pay for a subscription. The temporary free access period is usually 21-days for semester courses. We are able to process refunds up until the end of the temporary access period.
How do students access Codon?
Students should refer to the instructions provided by their instructor (which we provide to instructors) to know if they should login to Codon Learning by clicking a link in their LMS course page or by going to app.codonlearning.com.
Upon login, students can click the Course Access tab on the right side of the Codon App to see how many days remain in their temporary free access period and/or enter the access code provided by the bookstore.

HOW ARE SUBSCRIPTIONS PAID?
There are three ways that subscriptions are paid:
Student Direct Pay: Students pay using a credit card payment on the Codon platform.
Student Access Code: Students enter an access code on the Codon platform, which they obtain either from a bookstore (often necessary for students paying with financial aid) or as part of a digital bundle.
Institution or Department Pay: Institutions or departments submit a purchase order to Codon, which in turn sends an invoice to be paid within 30 days.

HOW MANY CODES SHOULD BE PURCHASED?
We recommend bookstores purchase a number of codes to cover approximately 20-30% of expected enrollment.
IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER?
We require a minimum order of 10 access codes.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
We allow returns of unsold codes only if the school discontinues using Codon. Like other software solutions, once the package is opened, returns of codes will not be accepted.
DO YOUR CODES EXPIRE?
They do not expire.
